Developing Pulledwork Stitches
A 16 page Masterclass
special which guides you through this magnificent
Pulledwork design.
Many of you will already be acqainted
with Pulled work, a lovely form of counted thread
embroidery where the stitching thread is used
to pull the weave of the fabric to create patterns.
The patterns made with the weave are, of course,
as important and often more important than the
stitches themselves and it matters a great deal
that they should work well together. It is for
this reason that the stitches are usually worked
in a colour to match the fabric. Sometimes,
in fact, the stitches hardly show at all, but
the effect they have made is wonderful.
The
Height
of Winter Part
3
Winter is regarded as a dormant month by most
people but gardeners and walkers know that even
throughout the coldest months, nature can still
keep going. Topped with a majestic bulrush with
ivy at its feet, the design features a host
of hardy winter flora which are always a welcome
sight during the darker days of the year.
Playtime
Nostalgia
This wonderful 1930's home may look a little
familiar, especially if you were lucky enough
to have one of these doll's houses to play with.
This is a design of the luxury model with double
fronts and garage made by Lines Brothers Ltd
until 1960. An ideal project for doll's house
fans, stitch a piece of childhood nostalgia
for your home today.
Winter
Woods
A crisp winter's day can be just as magical
as the hottest day in summer. This design captures
all the peaceful stillness of a snow laden landscape.
Complete with cosy cottages on the water's edge,
this scene would be the ideal retreat and an
oasis of calm in a hectic world. Relax, stitch
and dream of a perfect winter wonderland
Teatime
Blossom
Create a wonderful Hardanger panel in dusty
pink to decorate tables, dressers and shelves.
Favourite filling stitches are used for the
intricate central panel that will delight anyone
who adores Hardanger embroidery. This design
would also look fabulous in any shade of matching
fabric and thread including traditional white.
Floral
Arrangement
These designs show perfectly how very different
looks can be created from one basic shape. By
changing the shades of fabric and thread, the
Blackwork patterns can look lacy when stitched
in white on blue or have a classic Elizabethan
air when worked in traditional black on white.
They are extremely versatile producing either
a circular or square design. Experiment with
your own combinations for a unique addition
to your home.
