Feature Designs
North
Wind Doth Blow Everyone knows this nursery rhyme featuring
the 'poor robin' and here it is surrounded with
Blackwork ivy and decorated with silver Eyelets.
The well-feathered robin and the snow-covered
barn can also be stitched individually to make
cards for Christmas.
Elizabethan
Potager Reflecting the botanical nature of the
design, this Blackwork embroidery is stitched
with a soft green thread. Pea pods, leaves and
flowers intertwine to create this Elizabethan
style cushion so evocative of the period with
its favoured form of needlework depicting flowing
foliage.
Winter
Magic These bands of stylised snowflakes and
Scandinavian patterns make a charming decoration
for your hame all the year through as well as
at Christmas. The three shaded Caron threads
have similar tonal qualities so the colours
within the motifs blend seamlessly together.
A
Christmas Carol Inspired by two favourite carols, these
designs would make glittering Christmas pictures
to decorate your home this year, not to mention
luxurious cards for special friends and family.
The Assisi style technique uses just one shade
of thread, making stitching quicker, leaving
plenty of time for other Christmas preparations.
Full
of Surprises The patterns within this design take
shape effortlessly thanks to the shaded Caron
thread. Rows of Scandinavian style motifs are
embellished with golden beads to create and
irresistible stocking. Why not hang one by the
mantelpiece for a decoration throughout the
festive season?
Joys
of Christmas Not only is this stocking covered with
Christmas things, the inside will be full of lovely
things too when it is left at the foot of the
bed for someone very special. Children young and
not so young will adore finding this on Christmas
morning filled with treats. Stitch a gift that
will be treasured and used for many years to come.
Holly
and Berries Sit back and unwind with this relaxing
Hardanger holly design. The glorious shading occurs
efforlessly with the use of Caron Collection shaded
threads, leaving you to enjoy the rhythmic stitching.
Create and eye-catching addition to your dining
table this Christmas which your guests are sure
to admire.
Small Scale Canvaswork In issue 99 we looked at some canvas
stitches worked with Caron Waterlilies and Impressions
on Congress cloth and worked a sampler for them.
In this Masterclass we take this a step further
and put them all to some practical uses.
All at Sea Make last minute gifts for Christmas,
or indeed for any time of year, with these Cross
stitch coastal scenes. Full of detail, yet small
enough to stitch in an evening or two, the designs
can be used for cards, coasters, paperweights
and trinket pots. Why not stitch two at a time
and put one away for an emergency birthday card
or present in the months ahead?
Golden Christmas These designs gently glint in the candlelight
or above the fire as they all contain a touch
of gold. This collection of motifs make great
cards or use them to make tree ornaments and
a myriad of items for the dining table such
as napkin rings and coasters.
