At New Stitches we want you to be safe in the knowledge that any personal information you provide us with is not accessible by unauthorised parties. In order to provide a Member's Area and a Forum, we need to gather a little information about you:

• An alias - the name by which a user is known on the Forum.
• An email address - used in conjunction with the password in order to login. It is also used so the forum can automatically notify you when your post receives a reply. We will also use it so that we can tell you about changes to the Member's Area and Forum.
• A password - to protect your alias and ensure that you are the only person who can post under your alias.
• An avatar - this is a small image that is displayed under your alias towards the left side of every post.

This information will not be given or sold to any outside organisation for its use in marketing. We protect the privacy of the information we collect using highly secure, password protected servers. The information you provide will be kept confidential. Our internal procedures protect your privacy by limiting employee access to and the use of this information. Our security procedures mean that we may occasionally request proof of identity before we are able to disclose sensitive information to you.

Cookies

Ticking the 'Remember me' check box when you log in causes a durable cookie (one that is saved across browser sessions) to be written to your computer. This will have the effect of logging the user on automatically for subsequent browser sessions.
